…for the next Thurber House Children’s Writer in Residence.

Imagine this – you are a writer of middle grade children’s books longing for uninterrupted time to work on the project that is begging for your attention.  The voices in your head say “write”, but you have responsibilities at work or at home and so you steal time to write a page here and there. Uninterrupted writing time seems a mere dream in your real world.

Not so fast! Thurber House is looking for the 2011 Children’s Writer in Residence. For the past ten years, we have provided emerging authors with four glorious weeks of time away from their daily routine to focus on writing as well as the opportunity to engage and teach young writers the finer points of crafting their work. Residents stay in the third floor apartment of the restored boyhood home of James Thurber, author, humorist, and New Yorker cartoonist.  Located near downtown Columbus, OH, Thurber House is within walking distance to the top ranked library in the nation.

For all the details, check our web site at www.thurberhouse.org where you’ll find the residency guidelines, an application form, and the easy steps to submit your application.  The deadline for submissions is December 10, 2010, and the selection will be announced in March 2011.

Just picture yourself finishing that book!
